10 Disadvantages of Not Visiting A Salon Every Month | Beauty Care | Parlour in Delhi | Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

Here we enlist ten reasons you should be visiting the salon every month to look on the outside as fabulous as you are inside!

(1) Your body hair will be a mess

The hair that grows on your legs? Those babies don’t remove themselves. And if you are blessed with a good hair growth down under, say goodbye to shaving, for it will take 8 hours and 25 razors to get the job done. So, unless you want your feet to rival a 90’s hero’s chest, walk to your nearest salon!

(2) Waxing at home is a pain

You may think that you could be Superwoman and wax yourself at home, but the truth is that even Superwoman has a weekly appointment for spa-treatments. Waxing is simply not a task that can be managed at home. This is because it is hard to maintain the wax’s temperature, which would mean you either invest in a heater or make twenty trips to the kitchen to heat your wax over and over again. You could replace wax with waxing strips, but they are too small and too expensive for only ten strips, and the substance on those strips is much harder to get rid of. Plus, your waxing lady knows the directions in which she should wax to get the maximum hair out of the skin and ensure it doesn’t grow back quickly. She also knows how to apply just the right amount of pressure to make you feel less pain. Isn’t that preferable over hours of crying in your bed over frozen wax?

(3) Scissors, untrained hands and lush hair don’t go well together

You may think you can be adventurous and trim your hair yourself, or have someone do it for you. But the truth is that the more you cut your hair at home, the more you’ll need to visit a parlour. This is because hair has to be cut in a certain way so that it doesn’t cause split-ends, and slicing through a chunk of your hair absolutely does not achieve that. Moreover, there’s always the risk of your hair being cut unevenly. Hence, let professionals handle the job and put those scissors away!

(4) Blackheads

Well, don’t get a cleanup on your face for a month and see them for yourself.

(5) Who will fix your eyebrows?

Okay, a messy haircut can be fixed, or at least amended with some beanies and scarves. Messily made eyebrows? Not so much. Getting even one hair out of place could ruin the entire line and give your eyebrows different shapes. Do you really want to pull a Cristina Yang and go eyebrow-less for a month?

(6) Your upper lip needs you…

… to get it cleaned. What it absolutely does not need is a moustache.

(7) No matter how long your hair is, it needs a trim

This owes to the fact that if you don’t get a trim in a month, your hair will start developing split ends, and after a while, won’t grow anymore.

(8) Facials are your skin’s best friend!

Everyone needs to pamper their skin with the love it deserves, and if this means a monthly trip to the parlour, so be it. The amount of dirt, grime and sweat that collects on your skin and is not washed off even with the harshest soap! In a month, it gets far too much to go unnoticed, and thus, it should have you book an appointment to the salon at the earliest!

(9) Who’s going to take care of your nails?

Your roommate may be good at manicures, but she cannot be as good as a professional. A professional, who can clean your nails properly before making them look shiny, pretty and new. A professional, who already has all the tools handy unlike you or your roommate who will have to raid the supermarket for the right filer. A professional, who knows nail art much, much better than any amateur could!

(10) You will miss out on all the treatments you may need

Every woman knows that while sitting in a parlour, she will be serenaded by the beautician with suggestions for her hair, her skin, or even the blackheads on her nose. It’s almost a rite of passage now, and all for good reasons. These suggestions may seem like money-weeding to the sceptics, but they are actually well-meaning, and will prove to be good for you if you give them a shot! However, at home, you will never know when your toenails need a pedicure until it’s 2 AM and you’re staring at your feet thinking you need to get them cleaned if you want to wear those perfect shows for the party tomorrow.

A guide to upper lip hair removal | Beauty Tips | Parlour in Delhi | Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

That being said, if you are a little paranoid about the peach fuzz, there are a lot of options out there. Here's what you need to know...

1. Hair removal cream

I've actually been trying to get rid of my moustache since I was 15 and one of my friends (who happens to be a boy) told me it was really obvious. As a paranoid teenager, I ran home and raided my mum's beauty cupboard and found a Nair Brush On Hair Removal Cream (£4.89) that I've been using ever since and I got myself into a bit of a vicious circle, now always having to remove the hair there. The pros are that it's quick, painless and gets rid of every last hair. But annoyingly, I've found that hair does grow back slightly darker and it's something I have to keep on top of, making sure I slap a bit of cream on every fortnight or so. My skin is quite sensitive too and using it sometimes leaves it looking slightly red, so I always keep a tube of aloe vera gel on hand to soothe it.

2. Battery-powered blades

New blade devises like the Philips Precision Perfect Trimmer (£19.99) are perfect if you're in a hurry. This quickly gets rid of any and all hair in a totally painless way, leaving no marks whatsoever. However, I did find that about 24 hours after using it I had stubble. Not actual, visible stubble – it was only me that could feel it – but that's beside the point. Using the blade is a bit like shaving your armpits in that it pretty much becomes a daily chore, which is something I don't fancy getting on board with when it comes to my facial hair, so until I can be arsed to use a laser, I'm gonna stick to my trusty Nair

3. Threading

If you've ever had your eyebrows threaded then that's the kind of pain level to expect, i.e. slightly uncomfortable but not totally unbearable. Out of all the methods of hair removal threading probably gives the best results for the time it takes and the cost – it leaves the same, smooth, month-long result as using hair removal cream except the hairs are (obviously) pulled out from the root so the results last longer. Depending on where you go it can be cheap or fairly expensive with prices under £10-15), also note that you have to walk around in public with a red upper lip after a treatment so it's probably advisable to go somewhere as close to home as you can and ask your therapist to apply a soothing gel afterwards. To avoid any ingrown hairs in the couple of weeks following a treatment gently exfoliate your skin as you normally would and it shouldn't be a problem.

4. Cream bleach

Afraid of stubbly regrowth from removal, I've always bleached my upper lip hair to minimise its appearance. I use Jolen Creme Bleach (£11) or the Boots-own equivalent and even though I have sensitive skin, I've never experienced any irritation or redness. It's super-effective in 10 mins flat. However, over the last few years I've noticed my freckles becoming more prominent around my top lip line. Not necessarily a problem, but why here? Why not across my nose and cheeks, too? I wondered if bleaching my skin had made it more prone to pigmentation and dermatologist Dr Tom Mammone confirmed my suspicions. "I have read that that is definitely a possible complication with hair beaching. The chemicals are too harsh and irritate some people to the point where they get PIH (post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation)." Interesting. While I'm trying the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector to counteract it, I'll consider braving full-removal with threading instead.

5. Precision epilation

Epilators designed specifically for small areas of the skin, like the Braun Facial Epilator and Cleansing Brush (£49.99), are good at capturing short and fine hairs. While it smarts a little bit on stubborn eyebrow hairs being a more sensitive area, it's pretty painless to use on the upper lip and it's very easy to maneuver. The smooth results last around a month – so, the same as threading and waxing – but using this discrete device at home is a major pro.

6. Waxing

Waxing is best done by a professional, it's not worth risking burns or causing scabs doing it at home, and salons can select the most safe and gentle formulas for the face. Depending on your pain threshold it can be pretty unpleasant or you might just feel a wincey tug, but either way waxing provides clean hair removal for up to a month and costs around the same price as threading – which, of course, varies. The best way to make your waxing experience less painful is to do it regularly so you can target the different stages of hair growth.

7. At-home IPL and laser

Once a salon-only solution, laser and IPL (intense pulsed light) devices are now available in compact designs intended to target small areas like the upper lip. They can grant effective semi-permanent hair removal, but the results aren't instant – they need to be used over a period of 3-6 months to zap hair growth in its various stages, then merely for maintenance thereafter. At £280 for the Philips Lumea IPL it's quite an investment but a lot cheaper than seeing a professional for treatments. Another thing to bear in mind is that they are most effective on light to medium skin tones and can't (yet) be used on dark to very dark skin, with best results achieved when the difference between your skin and hair colour is greater. Don't let the pain hold you back though – it merely snaps which is slightly uncomfortable, but we've found it doesn't hurt.

5 Benefits Of Hair Spa Treatments | Hair Care | Parlour in Delhi | Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

A hair spa treatment can make your hair feel like it has been reborn. It will suddenly transform from a frizzy, dried up mess of straws to a shiny, lush crop of wavy locks, and you will be left wondering if the person in the mirror is really you. But hair spas are not just for beauty and look enhancement. They also make your hair healthier by reducing several hair problems that you may be facing on a daily basis. You may not see it immediately, but observe your hair a few days after you have gotten a hair spa treatment and you will notice the difference. Five ways in which a hair spa can improve the condition of your hair are listed below.

1. Deep Conditioning

This makes your frizzy hair softer, and makes the roots of your hair stronger. At home, we tend to condition our hair only at the tips and in a hurry; deep conditioning reaches the untouched parts of your scalp and treats them to give your hair a quality of silky perfection that remains for days. This kind of conditioning strengthens your hair follicles and reduces hair fall.

2. Balancing Oil Secretions

Oily hair is a problem we have all faced. You wash your hair one day, and the next day it’s back to its greasy glory. At the same time, you cannot risk shampooing every day because excessive chemical use is harmful. A hair spa treatment is the solution to this problem! It normalises your scalp’s oil secretions and you will never have to face greasy hair again.

3. Removing Impurities and Repairing Damaged Hair

A hair spa treatment includes a thorough cleansing of your hair. This kind of washing cannot be done at home. Even the areas that are hidden away are shampooed. This removes all the impurities you may have missed and repairs the hair that is adversely affected by the presence of this grime.

4. Improving Blood Circulation

A hair spa treatment always comes with a free head massage. The massage improves blood circulation and metabolism, and this makes your hair strong and shiny.

5. Restoring Vital Oils

After removing all the impurities and grime that accumulate in the course of the week, your scalp is left anew. This helps restore vital oils that may have otherwise been missed or lost in daily shampoo sessions. Thus, your hair will no longer be as frizzy or dry as before.

3. Brightens skin

This fruit is well known for lightening and cleansing skin naturally. It contains enzymes and vitamins A and C that help lighten your complexion, while the enzyme papain and alpha-hydroxy acids exfoliate the skin getting rid of dead skin cells. To brighten your skin, mash a ripe papaya and add some lime juice to create a face mask. Leave on for 10 minutes and then wash off with cold water. Do this a few times a month for glowing skin.

4. Gets rid of pigmentation/tan

Struggling with under-eye dark circles or a dark tan? Give papaya a try. The fruit has enzymes and phytochemicals that have skin lightening and bleaching properties that help even your complexion. For clear skin, blend a cup of raw papaya to create a paste. Add a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice. Mix together to create a face/body mask. Apply where needed, including dark spots like elbows and knees, as well as tan lines. Wash off after 20 minutes.

5. Controls acne

The papain enzyme in papaya is effective in treating acne and helps prevent future breakouts. The skin and seeds of the papaya also have enzymes that help reduce blemishes and scars, making this fruit a must-have in your skincare kit. Juice a raw papaya and dab the juice onto the acne-affected area. This will reduce the inflammation. Leave on for about 10 minutes and rinse off. You can also apply the pulp of a ripe papaya as a face mask to control acne.

6. Removes unwanted facial hair

Raw papaya has enzymes that help you get rid of facial hair by weakening hair follicles. If used regularly, a papaya facial pack can also prevent the hair from growing back. Sounds like a much better alternative to waxing and plucking! To create the face pack blend a cup of raw papaya into a paste. Add a pinch of turmeric for its antibacterial properties. Apply the paste where needed and let it dry. Once dry, scrub off the mask and the unwanted hair.

7. Heals cracked heels

Papaya is also known for its healing benefits. It soothes sensitive skin and promotes a speedy recovery, which makes this a great way to deal with painful, peeling, cracked heels. Unripe papaya is full of the papain enzyme, which promotes healing. So mash up one cup of unripe papaya into a paste. Apply the paste to your heels and wash off after 20 min. Then apply some olive oil to the area to further nourish the skin. If your skin is highly allergic, then use ripe papaya for the paste.

8. Nourishes your hair

Rich in minerals, vitamins, and enzymes, papaya also makes for a great natural conditioner. It nourishes your hair, making it smoother, while also adding thickness and shine. A papaya hair pack is also a great idea to control split ends. Blend equal amounts of papaya and coconut milk into a paste. Add a few drops of honey into the mix. Apply all over your hair and wash off after 20 min.

9. Promotes hair growth

This is one power-packed fruit that’s also good for your hair. Papaya is chock full of vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and folic acid that promote hair growth by improving blood circulation to the follicles, thereby also controlling balding.

10. Controls dandruff

The enzymes in papaya are also helpful in controlling the excessive build-up of chemicals and oil on your scalp. So the fruit can be used as a natural remedy to control dandruff and treat a flaky scalp. A papaya hair mask works best for this. Blend equal amounts of papaya and yogurt into a paste. Apply all over your hair from the roots till the tips. Leave on for 20 min and then wash off.

5 Easy Makeup Tips That Will Make Your Face Look Thin Instantly | Makeup Tips | Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

Girls with round or fuller face often want to know how they can make their face look slimmer. The answer is with the help of makeup. With the right makeup technique, you can effectively make your chubby face look slender.

So, here are the important makeup tips that you should keep in mind if you want to camouflage your round face.

#1. Play with the eyes

  • It is important to make your eyes stand out. Highlight them with black eyeliner, dark eye shadow and mascara.
  • Start with the eyeliner. Give your eyes a soft smudgy look, instead of a thin and precise line. This will make your eyes look bigger and attractive, drawing the attention away from your face.
  • While applying the eye shadow, make sure that the shade suits your complexion and compliments your dress. Use more shimmering shades on the brow line. In the inner half of the crease, opt for a slightly darker shade. Lastly, apply the darkest shade at the outer corner of your eye.
  • The different shades should merge properly; else it will give a patchy look to your eyes.
  • Make your lashes look thicker and longer with a few coats of mascara.

#2. Shape your eyebrows

  • Give a proper shape to your eyebrows. Well-groomed eyebrows can make your face look lean and slender. For those with round faces, it is ideal to keep an arch slightly higher, directly over the outer part of the eye pupil.
  • Girls with round or fuller face often want to know how they can make their face look slimmer. The answer is with the help of makeup. With the right makeup technique, you can effectively make your chubby face look slender.
  • So, here are the important makeup tips that you should keep in mind if you want to camouflage your round face.

#3. Blusher essential

  • The main thing which should be kept in mind while using blusher is the way of applying its strokes. A good blusher not only makes your face appear toned and sharp but also shows off the beauty points of your face.
  • A pink or peach blusher suits almost every skin tone.
  • The strokes should conceal the fullness of your face. Always apply the blush using firm and brisk strokes, in a sweeping motion.
  • Never apply blush on the apple of your cheeks in a circular motion, as this will only highlight the roundness of your face.
  • The best trick to hide the roundness of your face is to apply the brush directly under the cheekbones and blend them all the way into your temples.
  • After applying the blush, if you feel like adding more drama to your look, then you can blend a highlighter on the top of your cheekbones in soft sweeping motions. This would add a slight edge to your features as well.
  • Give a makeover to your lips with the help of lip liner.
  • If you have thin lips then make them voluminous with the help of the liner. Thin lips can make your face look round.
  • Plump up your lips by applying the liner on the lower lip. Do not line the upper lip; else the lips will look too full.

#4. Lip trick

  • Go for glossy nude colours as they make your lips look natural and fuller. If you have a fairer complexion, you can choose pink or peach lip colours. But, it is best to stay clear of all bright shades.
  • Another good way to add volume to your lips is to apply a shimmery lip gloss in the middle of your lower lip, over your neutral shade lip colour.

#5. Darker foundation
  • Since you have to make your round face appear more oval, it is important to draw the attention away from the sides of your face.
  • After moisturising your face, apply an even layer of dark-coloured foundation on your face and neck.
  • Use a darker shade of the foundation in the hollow of your cheeks. This would give a slimmer and slender appearance to your face.

Removing makeup at the end of the day can be a pain, especially if it’s the stubborn, waterproof sort, which is really hard work! Enter your nifty little hero. Coconut oil is great at breaking down and removing waterproof makeup. Tip some coconut oil onto a cotton ball and gently swipe around your eyes. You’ll be surprised by how quickly the makeup comes off! Rinse your face once you’re done.

It hydrates and softens the skin around the cuticles, and helps strengthen your nails. You’ll wake up to younger-looking fingers in the morning. Apply the oil a few times a week for best results.

Makeup brush cleaner
You need to clean your makeup applicators at least once a month to maintain hygiene and avoid bacteria from building up. To make your own brush cleaner, mix put two parts antibacterial liquid soap with one part coconut oil. Soak your brushes in the mixture for a few hours. Wash with warm water to remove all the makeup and make your brushes bacteria-free (the oil’s anti-fungal properties help in this).

DIY body scrub
Coconut oil is a great based for a hydrating, moisturising body scrub. Mix half a cup of coarse sugar or sea salt with half a cup of coconut oil to create an exfoliator. You can also add in a few drops of an essential oil you like for a soothing scent. Rub the mixture all over your body to remove dead skin cells and make your skin baby soft. Add a little more of the coarse ingredients for the rough, hard skin around your elbows and feet.

Shaving cream
Run out of shaving cream and have to step out for a party? No problem, just slather on some coconut cream! Your razor will glide more smoothly, allowing for a closer shave, and its anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties will ensure your legs are protected against infections from nicks. It also helps that coconut will moisturise your pins while you’re getting the fuzz out. That’s a win-win in our book! Just remember to do this outside the shower as the oil can make things very slippery.

Soften dry, rough skin
Your elbows, knees, and heels tend to have rough, dry skin that needs a little extra TLC. So soften the skin in these areas, gently massage in some coconut and leave it on overnight. The oil helps lock in moisture, preventing dehydration. Hello softer, smoother skin!
