Hair Care Tips for Winters - Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar, Rajouri Garden & Malviya Nagar

Here are few hair care tips for you especially for the winters:

1. Wash your hair twice a week only. Overuse of shampoo can cause your scalp to get drier, as it is, it will be dry due to the cold weather.
2. Condition your hair whenever using a shampoo. A conditioner helps to retain the moisture in your hair and avoids damages.
3. Oiling once a week is must. As much as shampooing and conditioning the hair is important, treating your hair to a hot oil massage gives the roots the necessary strength and moisture.
4. Keep the shine and bounce of your hair by using a honey mask. Once you’ve brushed your hair, apply honey over the hair and roots. Keep it on for 30 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water.
5. Use a good hair defence spray. If you happen to use styling tools, ensure you apply heat spray or leave-in conditioner that keeps your hair soft, shiny and hydrated.
6. Avoid a hairdryer. It is better to let your hair dry naturally. However, if using a hairdryer, don’t over dry your hair as may look frizzy and damaged.
7. Avoid leaving house with wet hair. The weather can cause your hair cuticles to break.
8. Trim your hair every six to eight weeks. Your hair needs a refreshing change regularly in order to get rid of split ends. Further, it will promote healthy hair and hair growth.
9. Try to cover your hair when going out. Wear a scarf or a hat to keep the moisture of your tresses locked and break-free.
10. Tying your hair is the best solution to avoid frizzy hair in the winter months. Especially, if you are going out or exercising, keep them tied.
11. Spinach contains vitamins B, C and E as well as potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and Omega 3 – required for good healthy hair. The iron content helps the red blood cells carry oxygen to hair follicles which is essential for healthy hair growth.
12. Sweet potatoes contain an antioxidant called the beta carotene. The body turns beta-carotene into the vitamin A that protects against dry and dull hair.
13. Salmon, sardines, & mackerel are packed with the healthy omega-3 fatty acids. They ease to protect from disease, and helps in shiny hair growth.

Hairstyles That You Must Do Away With To Avoid Hair Loss - Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar, Rajouri Garden & Malviya Nagar

#1. Ponytails
Ponytail or pigtail is a very common hairstyle, but very few realise that it is also one of the causes of hair loss. If you wear a tight pigtail on a regular basis, you are going to shock your scalp by restricting blood circulation to your hair follicles. The damage to the follicles due to constant pulling over a long period causes a condition called traction alopecia. The most common indicator of hair loss caused by this hairstyle is a receding hair line on the temples and forehead. Other symptoms include headache, itchy scalp, and hair breakage around the scalp. To minimise the damage, you can wear your pony with the base near the nape of your neck.
#2. Cornrows

Cornrows, with its root in Africa, is an extremely fashionable and exceptionally popular look among people across all age groups. Some of the well-known faces to have sported cornrows include Sean Paul, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, and Will Smith's daughter Willow. However, this type of hairstyle where hair is braided quite close to the scalp can certainly create tension in the scalp and scar it. It will cause hair loss and hair breakage, especially if you choose to keep it for long. In addition, if you do not clean your hair properly, there are chances that you may encourage fungal and bacterial infections which may promote formation of bald spots.
#3. Dreadlocks

#4. Weaves

Although artificial hair integration technique may boost your self-confidence and cushion your dipping self-esteem temporarily, it certainly has a drawback. Hair weaving can cause traction alopecia and bald spots associated with glue extensions. Usually when artificial hair is integrated, it is done either by weaving, gluing or clipping (strand by strand) and this is known to damage your scalp and scar it beyond imagination. Also, hair extensions do not absorb water easily and hence, can get tangled.

Care For Your Hair This Winter - Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar, Rajouri Garden & Malviya Nagar

Winter is here. And if you think that means an end to all your hair problems and sun damage resulting madness, you could not be more wrong. Winter brings with itself a whole new set of hair issues.

Oil and Lemon: Dry scalp is a common problem during winters, leading to dandruff. Combat this issue with just some heated hair oil and the juice of half a lemon. Squeeze your lemon juice into the heated oil and apply on your scalp and massage it in. Simple enough, right?

Frizzy Hair: What with your sweaters and your scarfs, winter is the time of static. And static is not good for your hair at all; it leads to frizz. In order to maintain non-frizzy hair throughout winter, you just need a change of hairbrush, a change in your shower water temperature and a leave-in conditioner. Use a vented hairbrush, preferably one that has a combination of plastic and boar bristles. Use lukewarm water instead of hot water for your shower, as hot water tends to dry out the scalp and not retain moisture at all. And use that leave-in conditioner.

Apple Honey: What with the drying and the frizz, the hair’s usual shine and bounce are lost during winter time. Prevent this happening with a simple homemade deep conditioning hair mask. Apply apple honey over your roots and hair and cover your hair up in a shower cap or towel for 30 minutes, before washing it off with lukewarm water. This will restore that perfect shine and bounce.

Olive Oil: Two teaspoons of olive oil is all is takes to maintain your hair’s precious health during winter. Heat your oil and massage it through your scalp slowly, allowing the oil to penetrate deep into the roots. Apart from giving shine and eradicating dandruff and frizz, this also helps in controlling hair breakage.

Dry Your Hair: Considering winters and dryness go hand in hand, one of the most important things to consider during this time is your hair drying ritual. During summers, you tend to let a little wet hair stay as it dries up quickly. Winters is not a time for that. Make sure that all your hair from your roots to your tips is dried out properly, as it will lead to a plethora of hair and scalp problems otherwise. And trust us, that’s a risk you do not want to take.

Conditioning: Do not under any circumstance forgo the conditioner during winter time. Your hair tends to lose its natural oils and moisture during winter, thus making conditioning imperative. Go the extra mile and combine your regular conditioner with some of your favourite hair conditioning oils for winter showers. Your hair will thank you for it.

Here are 5 beauty tips you may not have thought of yet, that will definitely give your beauty game an edge just in time for a big first date:

#1 Get Brighter Skin with a Microdermabrasion Treatment

A Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-invasive treatment that brightens your skin by removing dull, dry and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin using gentle exfoliation and suction techniques. Microdermabrasions improve skin’s tone, clarity and radiance. Post-treatment, brighter, smoother and softer skin is revealed. This treatment has immediate results, so you can get one done right before your date. Physician Skincare Centre in North Vancouver is a great location to get a microdermabrasion to restore your skin’s healthy glow.

#2 Professionally apply your makeup

An important event or an exciting first date is a great excuse to professionally apply your makeup. If you want to feel confident and make a great first impression, it’s worth the added time and effort to line your lips, apply a long-wear lipstick that won’t need to be re-applied, and try contouring. Contouring significantly enhances and gives definition to your features. Stephanie Schonberger, Makeup Artist and Freelance Artist for Smashbox Cosmetics explains “while it’s a given that foundation makes your skin look flawless, contouring is what’s needed to define the cheekbones, slim the jaw line, brighten and highlight the skin and ergo give your skin new life.” Stephanie is a Vancouver-based makeup artist, so you can either get your makeup done by her or try to do it on your own by using one of her tutorial videos. If you don’t already have a contouring kit, try the Smashbox Cosmetics Contour Kit for all your highlighting and contouring needs. It comes with a brush and how-to guide in case you need further guidance.

#3 Try Eyelash Extensions

It’s time you gave some serious thought to eyelash extensions. They’ll make your eyelashes fuller, darker and longer, and make your eyes really pop. Noir Lash Lounge has a fantastic eyelash extensions service and they have a location in Yaletown and North Vancouver. This is the ideal beauty service for looking gorgeous and feeling extra-confident on a big first date. Having eyelash extensions will actually save you time when you’re getting ready for your date, too, since the majority of lash extension wearers don’t need to wear much makeup on their eyes. The dramatic look of your lashes are enough eye makeup on their own – and it will actually look as though you’re wearing eyeliner and mascara even though you are not.

#4 Get Glowing Skin with an Oxygen Facial

Vancouver-based clinic The Skin Girls can help you achieve glowing, radiant skin with an Oxygen Facial treatment. Their celebrity clients call it the “red-carpet facial” since it makes your skin radiant and beautiful just in time for an important event. The Oxygen Facial draws oxygen to the skin’s surface, resulting in a radiant glow before a date. This treatment is very relaxing as well, so it should help calm those first-date jitters. For gorgeous results, get one the day before your date. The Skin Girls even offers mobile services if you don’t feel like leaving your house.

#5 Try a DIY Hair Mask For Luscious Locks

Get healthy-looking hair in time for your date with DIY moisturizing hair-repairing masks at home. Simply mix about ½ cup of honey with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of soft avocado, and massage the concoction into your hair. Honey locks in moisture, and avocado replenishes keratin protein bonds which overexposure to UV rays will diminish. Let this awesome DIY mask sit on your hair for 30 minutes, covered with a plastic bag to lock the moisture in, and when you rinse it out you’ll see and feel the difference. Now you’re ready to blow his mind, so go and enjoy your date!
