Effects of Excess Sunlight on Your Skin


 

Sunlight is very important to our skin. It is a good source of vitamin D and very important in our life.

However if we expose our skin to so much sunlight it can be damaged. Therefore, there is a need to carry a sunscreen lotion if you are going to be in the sun for long.

One of the effects of excess sunlight on our skin is the thinning and thickening of our skin. When the skin is thinned, fine wrinkles appear and the skin bruises easily.

At other times the skin tears. When the skin thickens especially behind the neck, coarse wrinkles form and will not disappear even when you stretch the skin. This is solar elastosis and the symptoms include but are not limited to yellow discoloration of the skin.

Another effect of excessive sunlight is that the blood vessel changes. The blood vessels become thin due to UV radiation. As a result, one can bruise easily.

This bruise occurs mostly on the backs of the hands. Due to over exposure to the sun some tiny blood vessels appear in the skin mostly on the face. These blood vessels are what we call telangiectasias.

Also due to excess sunlight exposure, our pigments can change. When the melanin-producing cell known as melanocyte is constantly in fierce sunlight, it is damaged making it bigger. As a result, freckles appear on the skin.

They normally appear on the arms, shoulders, back, chest, and back of the hands. Some people know them as age spots but they are not age related instead they are a result of expose to excess sunlight.

So if you want to keep your skin flawless and smooth it is advisable to carry sunscreen lotion to avoid getting sunburns and the above named
