Choose the Right Foundation for Your Skin Tone

Tips on Choosing the Right Foundation for Your Skin Tone
So you are going to your favorite makeup store and want a lovely foundation, and well, when the sales assistant swatched it, the effect was great, but when you came back, you looked ashy and chalky?

Well, you probably got the wrong shade. And before you start cursing the assistant, take a look at where you might be going wrong. Here are our top tips in selecting the right foundation for your skin tone.
1.       Know your skin undertones. Your skin has either pink undertones or yellow undertones, or a combination of both. For pink tones, you are naturally cool, and would need warm tones to make you look fantastic. For yellow tones, you are naturally warm, and will need cool tones to make your skin look neutral.

2.       Never wear makeup while foundation shopping. When you are going to get something like your foundation, never go wearing makeup. You need to check the foundation, and yes, if possible, apply it on your skin. Do not do it with full makeup on, because, otherwise, no one including you would be able to gauge your natural skin tone.
3.       Don’t swatch on the hand but get the foundation on your face. Or, if you are scared of applying it on your face, on your throat, or right under your ear, and blend the foundation in. Let it stay for 2-4 hours before you make a decision. It will also help you understand if your skin is sensitive.
4.       Go out in the daylight and check the foundation. The right time to shop for foundation is during the day, and you should always come out of the store and check against sunlight to figure out if the color is blended in.
These are simple tips on right foundation application.
