6 amazing coconut oil beauty hacks | Beauty Tips | Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

All Indian women know the miracle-like of power of coconut oil when is comes to transforming dry, brittle hair in to silky, soft flowing tresses. But this wonder oil has a whole host of other beauty benefits too. Here are six different ways you can incorporate it in your beauty routine.

Eye makeup remover
Removing makeup at the end of the day can be a pain, especially if it’s the stubborn, waterproof sort, which is really hard work! Enter your nifty little hero. Coconut oil is great at breaking down and removing waterproof makeup. Tip some coconut oil onto a cotton ball and gently swipe around your eyes. You’ll be surprised by how quickly the makeup comes off! Rinse your face once you’re done.

Handy cuticle cream

Dry brittle nails and peeling cuticles getting you down? Dab a bit of coconut oil directly onto your nails and cuticles, and gently massage it in. Ideally, let the oil soak in overnight. It hydrates and softens the skin around the cuticles, and helps strengthen your nails. You’ll wake up to younger-looking fingers in the morning. Apply the oil a few times a week for best results.

Makeup brush cleaner
You need to clean your makeup applicators at least once a month to maintain hygiene and avoid bacteria from building up. To make your own brush cleaner, mix put two parts antibacterial liquid soap with one part coconut oil. Soak your brushes in the mixture for a few hours. Wash with warm water to remove all the makeup and make your brushes bacteria-free (the oil’s anti-fungal properties help in this).

DIY body scrub
Coconut oil is a great based for a hydrating, moisturising body scrub. Mix half a cup of coarse sugar or sea salt with half a cup of coconut oil to create an exfoliator. You can also add in a few drops of an essential oil you like for a soothing scent. Rub the mixture all over your body to remove dead skin cells and make your skin baby soft. Add a little more of the coarse ingredients for the rough, hard skin around your elbows and feet.

Shaving cream
Run out of shaving cream and have to step out for a party? No problem, just slather on some coconut cream! Your razor will glide more smoothly, allowing for a closer shave, and its anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties will ensure your legs are protected against infections from nicks. It also helps that coconut will moisturise your pins while you’re getting the fuzz out. That’s a win-win in our book! Just remember to do this outside the shower as the oil can make things very slippery.

Soften dry, rough skin
Your elbows, knees, and heels tend to have rough, dry skin that needs a little extra TLC. So soften the skin in these areas, gently massage in some coconut and leave it on overnight. The oil helps lock in moisture, preventing dehydration. Hello softer, smoother skin!

Few eyeliner hacks for perfect eyes very time | Mackup Tips | Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

1. Transition from pencil to liquid

Not confident enough to use a tricky liquid liner? No problem. First line your eyes with a pencil liner. Make thin feather light strokes near the lash line till you get the shape you want. Then trace over with the liquid liner to create a super solid colour and sharp line.

2. Start with the wings

To get a great cat eye, start with the wings first. Break it up into three steps. Draw a straight line from the corner of your eye towards the tip of your eyebrow. It should be as long as the flick you want. Then draw another line from the tip of the flick to the middle of your eyelid so that you get a triangle. Then draw a thin line to connect the inner corner of your eye. Now fill in the outlines and you have bold statement eyes!

3. Connect the dots
Have trouble drawing a straight line on the lids itself? Sit down and rest your elbow on a flat surface. Then start placing small dots or dashes along the lash line in the shape you want. Next, connect the dots one at a time. It’s kind of like those join-the-dots books you played with as a child. Once you’re done, steady your hand and go over the line in one go.

4. Use tape/Post-it for perfection

This is a great tip for beginners or those who have a hard time keeping their hand steady. Start by cutting a thick, long piece of tape or Post-it. Stick it on your hand a couple of times to get rid of the stickiness so it doesn’t tug at your skin. (Paper tape/surgical tape is better as it doesn’t pull the skin.) Then stick the tape or Post-it diagonally near the corner of your eye. It should go all the way up past the tip of your eyebrow. Now start applying the eyeliner like you normally would. When you come to the corner carry right onto the tape. Once you’ve got the line done, take off the tape and revel in your perfect cat eye!

5. Get a bigger eye with white eyeliner

Line your lower waterline with a white eyeliner to create the illusion that it is an extension of the white part of your eye. This is a great hack for making your eyes look bigger and brighter. It makes your eyes stand out and look more awake.

6. Tightline to make your eyes pop

If you’re going for a more natural look then tightlining is your best friend. Instead of applying the liner on your lid, apply it between the lashes from the underside. Gently lift your eyelid and lashes upwards so as to expose the underside. Then lightly dab the eyeliner between the lashes at the roots. Connect to create a smooth line. This will make your lashes look fuller and eyes more defined. This trick subtly alters the appearance of your eyes without looking too made up.

A well-groomed man. We present here the definitive list of must-buys that would be useful to both you and your boyfriend.

  1. A smooth and thick shaving cream: A shaving cream that tackles both, unruly beard and stubborn body hair, is a must-have in the house.
  2. An unscented, matte lip balm: Gone are the days when lip balms were only female territory. Matte lip balms are all the rage when it comes to those chapped male lips.
  3. A facial cleansing bar: Neutral-scented, clear soaps are the answer to those long days when you come back home with your face run-down with dirt and pollution.
  4. A unisex scent: Not all fragrances are ‘feminine’ or ‘masculine’, there are several which can suit both.
  5. A moisturizing body lotion: Everyone needs a basic body cream to soothe the skin during those dry winter months. Just make sure that it does not have a fruity smell and it’ll be good for use by the guy as well.
  6. A pack of face wipes: These are particularly useful when you are travelling during hot summer months. Keeps the sweat beads at bay!
  7. An anti-dandruff shampoo: Dandruff doesn’t differentiate on the basis of gender and so does its repellant. This will help keep both your tresses clean.

Besides saving money, these unisex products will also be more convenient to carry when you’re travelling.

3 Natural Ways of Giving Yourself a Pedicure | Beauty Tip | Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

The hectic lifestyle of today’s times leaves us with little time to slow down and pamper these bodies we push to the limit every day. And believe it or not, feet are one of the most neglected parts of the body when it comes to caring and de-stressing. For having a pair of beautiful legs, you need to pay attention to the feet too. Chapped heels and chipped toenails are frankly an eyesore when the rest is so groomed and well-dressed. So here are a few nifty techniques of giving yourself a nice pedicure at home to have those perfect, soft feet.

METHOD 1- The Basic Pedicure

Fill up a basin with warm water; add a little olive oil to make your skin uber soft. You can also add a few drops of an essential oil such as rosemary or eucalyptus. Soak your feet in the water, and luxuriate for 20 minutes.

Scrub your feet with a loofah to do away with the dead skin. Scour your heels gently using a pumice stone.

Remove any nail polish, if you haven’t already. Scrub away the dead skin using a scrub brush or a foot scrub.

Slather your feet with a nice, organic lotion. The mantra of healing those calluses and cracked heels is lots and lots of moisture.

Cut your toenails straight across, and then buff them with a nail file. Rub a drop of almond or olive oil into each toenail and cuticle for nice, shiny toes.

METHOD 2- Lemon and Honey Pedicure

Remove any nail polish, and cut and file your toenails.

Massage some moisturizing cream on the nails. Soak them for 15 minutes in a tub of hot water containing a little herbal shampoo, lemon slices and marigold petals.

Clean the nails with a nail brush, and use a pumice stone to scour the heels. Pat dry. Tend to the nails with a cuticle pusher.

Rub the lemon slices on the skin to remove tan. Pat dry with a towel.

Use a loofah to scrub away dead skin. Mix 2 tsp each of honey and moisturizing cream and massage into the skin. Wipe off with steamed towels. Done!

METHOD-3: The Luxury Pedicure

Remove any residual nail polish from your toenails. Cut them straight across, and file them in your desired shape.

Fill a tub with warm water. Add half a cup of Epsom salt, some essential oil, lemon slices, flower petals and smooth pebbles or marbles for the ultimate pedicure experience. Soak for a nice twenty minutes. Don’t forget to put on some relaxing music while you soak! Pat dry with a towel
Massage cuticle cream on the base of toenails. Scrub your skin using a pumice stone firmly but gently. Remove the cuticle cream and push in your cuticles. Scrub your nails using an old toothbrush.
Use a foot scrub to exfoliate your feet. Apply it in circular motion on the whole feet. Once you are satisfied, rinse it off.

Use a heavy moisturizer on your feet, ankles and calves for the ultimate rejuvenating experience.
For ultra soft feet, generously slather moisturizer on your feet. Put on cotton socks and leave it on overnight. The result? Gorgeous feet that will be the envy of every women you know.

5 Makeup Tricks You Must Master Before You Get Married | Beauty Tip | Parlour in Delhi, Salon in Lajpat Nagar | Malviya Nagar | Dwarka

Tensed about having the perfect look on your big day? Having a summer wedding and afraid that your makeup will get ruined before your big event? Worry not. We bring to you some great tricks and tips to ensure that you look absolutely stunning on your wedding!

Waterproof Makeup is a Must
Weddings are a watery affair, and it’s not possible to have a wedding without shedding a few tears. Either buy all waterproof products, or buy a single cosmetic that will seal all your eye makeup, liner and all. Don’t forget the waterproof mascara! Even if you want to go for the normal variety, apply the waterproof one as a last coat to protect your mascara. Also, if you’re wearing fake eyelashes, remember to use glue that’s waterproof too.

The Bridal Blush
You can go for a cream blush if your skin is not too oily and the wedding is in winter. It has a sheer and fresh look. To know where to place your blush, just smile! Yes, that’s right. When you smile, the apples of your cheek pop out. Apply your blush right there and blend in with your temples to get that natural flushing look. For increased stay, put on cheek stain, and then brush on a matching powder blush on top.

Get Dramatic, Enhanced Eyes
Buy a color-coordinated eye shadow palette with 3-4 shades of a colour matching your outfit. Start by applying the darker shades on the outside of the eyes, going lighter as you work your way in. this will make them look big, bold and beautiful instead of closing them off. An important tip to remember is that if you mess up your eye makeup, take a little makeup remover on a cotton swab and use it to clean it up. Using a wipe might ruin your foundation and concealer.

Foundation with Fingers is a No-No
Always apply your foundation using a brush or sponge. Never use your fingers to do that. The rule of thumb is that the less you touch your face, the better. This way, you don’t risk leaving dirt, smudges or bacteria on your face. You can also leave behind fingerprints, ruining the smoothness of your look. When using a sponge, stipple it instead of sweeping it, to blend the foundation more evenly into the skin and give it a natural look.

For That Perfect Pout
Apply some lip balm on your lips before the gloss or lipstick to prevent them from looking chapped and flaky. Fill in your entire lip with a lip pencil to make your colour stay on for a longer time. If you’re planning to wear just a gloss, think again. It will fade quickly, and will make you look washed out in photographs. Choose a nice lip colour matching your dress, and which suits your complexion. Blot your lipstick with a tissue for an even look. Add a touch of gloss to finish it up.

Some Beauty Products You Don't Necessarily Need - Parlor in lajpat nagar & malviya nagar

1. Eye Cream
Ever wake up with puffy eyes and think a topical cream is your best fix? Think again. It's just as effective to use a regular cold compress, or even clean, cold cucumber and potato slices to reduce inflammation around your eyes in the morning

2. Primer
Unless you find that your makeup is melting off by the end of the day, you can consider skipping this to streamline your beauty routine. Instead, do small makeup touchups throughout the day and consider switching concealers if yours is fading too quickly.

3. Toner
If you're already using a cleanser and moisturizer with SPF, a toner might not be doing much else, says our beauty director, April Franzino. Plus, classic astringents have a high alcohol content and could strip and can dry out your skin. Then your skin will work hard to produce more oil, possibly making it oilier than before.

4. Eyeliner
If you're not doing a fancy cat eye, your mascara can replace your eyeliner. To mimic it without a pencil, Franzino says to simply wiggle the mascara wand at the base of your lashes to create an extra dark line. Keep adding layers for intensity.

5. Leave-In Conditioner
Apply a dab or two of your regular conditioner — you can play with the amounts to find out what works best — to your hair after you shower. Or, try your own DIY deep conditioning treatment once a week: Rinse your hair clean and put a generous amount of conditioner on your strands. Put a plastic cap over your hair (this will trap heat) and let it sit for 20 minutes. Finally, rinse your hair for super-shiny, ultra-hydrated locks.

6. Full Coverage Foundation
Use a concealer or tinted moisturizer instead. Bonus: You won't have to buy expensive application brushes either.

7. Eyelash Curler
As your mascara is drying, place your finger at the base of your lashes and push them up toward your eyebrow for a few seconds. This can give them the same slight bend your curler will.
